Don Getz, AWS, Workshop
First visit to Salt Cay for Don Getz, he loves working 'en plein air', and will make this a most memorable week for you. Limited to ten participants, you will get lots of personal instruction and guidance.
Getz stresses design, developing negative & positive shapes and drawing skills. Open to all levels, Getz will demo daily with value sketches and watercolors. He believes that we each develop best at our own pace and individuality is key to original art. Daily critiques are included.
The daily routine will find the group traveling to various sites on Salt Cay, taking photos to familiarize us with painting possibilities, creating several thumbnail value studies and then your painting. Getz will demo on location at 9am each morning, followed at 10:30 by each artist sketching and then painting.
We break at noon for lunch and return to work at 2pm, allowing time to relax and enjoy the sun & sand. We paint until 5:30, then finish the day with a group critique. This is the best time for great shadows and painting light. A new subject/location will be painted each day.
